Since the age of eight, Scotty Walsh has entertained in cabarets and clubs, notable and notorious; and in theaters and tents, famous and infamous. He has lived and performed throughout the United States, Italy, France, Ireland, Cairo, Berlin, and Kosovo.
Well-versed in mentalism, magic, clown, circus, Vaudeville, and Commedia dell’Arte, Mr. Walsh has headlined for the National Circus Festival of Ireland, presented findings for the Irish Society of Theatre Research, lectured at Cork’s Lifelong Learning Festival, and was a first prize winner at the 2015 UCC Doctoral Showcase.
Mr. Walsh holds a Master of Fine Arts in Physical Theater from the Accademia dell’Arte, as well as a Master of Public Administration in Strategic Public Policy from the American University of Paris, and is a certified instructor of EBAS, The Elemental Body Alignment System. He has studied at the Reale Società Ginnastica di Torino, at Seattle’s School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts, with Antonio Fava at the Scuola Internazionale Dell’Attore Comico, and has studied clown technique with Larry Pisoni of the Pickle Family Circus, Barry Lubin (Grandma) of the Big Apple Circus, and Joe Fenner of Switzerland’s Scuola Teatro Dimitri. Additionally, he has practiced contemporary mask-making and masked performance with Familie Flöz of Berlin.
His professional teaching experience includes tenures as the Arts and Early Intervention Specialist at Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore, as a circus instructor at Seattle’s School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts, and has lectured for Tuscany’s Accademia dell’Arte, the University of Oklahoma, and the Denver School of the Arts.
Scotty Walsh now lives in Ireland where he is a Doctoral Researcher and Part-time Lecturer at University College Cork. Drawing from his exploration of the strengths and shortcomings of the human mind, Scotty presents custom workshops, trainings, motivational seminars, and entertainment on the powers of perception and persuasion.
